Italian car manufacturer Ferrari has announced it will build a theme park in the Port Aventura resort, near Barcelona. Expected to open in 2016.

Ferrari Land will cover about 75,000 square-meters (a little over 800,000-square-feet), and will include Europe’s highest and fastest roller-coaster – because when you think Ferrari, you only expect superlatives. The park will also have a 250-room five-star hotel, with a restaurant, as well as a driving simulator.

Barcelona and its surroundings are already popular tourist destinations, which means the choice of location is a very good one indeed. The 167 $million project would not be the first Ferrari theme park, with one already opened in 2010 in the United Arab Emirates.
