As a Chinese global tech startup, NextEv owns the NIO Formula E Team that participates in the FIA Formula E electric racing series.
It’s called the NIO EP9, and it’s quite possibly the fastest electric car in the world. We say this because the EP9 set a new record for the fastest lap time around the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife EV ‘ring’. A feat like this, however, is something you’d come to expect from a vehicle with a megawatt (1360 horsepower) of boost. It hosts four electric motors with four gearboxes that propel the EP9 from 0-60 in 2.7 seconds and to 200km/h (124mph) in just 7.1 seconds, topping out at 200mph. Drivers will also find convenience in NIO’s swappable battery along with its ability to fully charge in 45 minutes and boast a range of 265 miles. There’s no official word on pricing though there are rumors this supercar could cost upwards of $1 million.
